Quality & safety

Checked before it is paid for. Safe while it is built.

Every R&K site runs on the same quality checks and safety rules, whether we are building a house, a mosque or a commercial building.

Quality control

Six checks on every project.

Quality is checked at each stage, recorded in writing, and tied to milestone payments, so nothing is covered up before it has been inspected.

  1. Material approval

Samples of steel, cement, tiles, fittings and finishes are approved by the client before purchase, and deliveries are checked against them.

  2. Setting-out checks

Grid lines, levels and dimensions are checked against the approved drawings before excavation and at every floor.

  3. Pre-pour inspection

Reinforcement, cover, shuttering and embedded services are inspected and signed off before any concrete is poured.

  4. Testing

Concrete cubes and steel are tested through approved laboratories wherever the design or the client specifies it.

  5. Milestone certification

Each stage is measured against the BOQ and certified before it is billed.

  6. Snag list & handover

A written snag list is closed before handover, with drawings, approvals and warranties passed to the owner.

Site safety

Everyone goes home safe.

Construction sites are dangerous places. Our supervisors are responsible for safety every day, not only when someone is watching.

  • Protective equipment Helmets, safety shoes and gloves on site, and harnesses for work at height.
  • Scaffolding & edges Scaffolding checked before use; open edges, shafts and stairwells protected.
  • Toolbox talks Short safety briefings for the crew before high-risk work begins.
  • Fire & first aid Fire extinguishers and first-aid kits on site, with clear emergency contacts.
  • Neighbours & public Hoarding, safe access and controlled working hours around occupied buildings.
  • Clean, secure sites Materials stored safely, debris removed and the site secured after hours.

Commercial & high-rise

Safety designed in, not added later.

Larger buildings carry more people and more risk. On commercial and mixed-use projects, safety starts at the design stage.

  • Structural design by registered engineers, checked before submission
  • Fire exits, escape stairs and fire separation planned with the architect
  • Fire detection and fire-fighting systems coordinated with the MEP design
  • Lift, electrical and gas installations by qualified specialists
  • Basement ventilation, drainage and waterproofing designed up front
  • Building plans and NOCs approved before work begins
